REVISION- GRADE 9- LINEAR EQUATIONS, COORDINATE GEOMETRY & INTRODUCTION TO EUCLID'S GEOMETRY

 LINEAR EQUATIONS IN TWO VARIABLES

1. Find five solutions each of the following equations
     a)  5x - y = 15
     b) x - 2y -10 =0

2. How many solutions does a linear equation in two variables have?

3. Give the equation of a line passing through:
      a) (1,2)
      b) (-3, 2)

4. A lending library has a fixed charge for the first 3 days and an additional charge for each day thereafter. Aarushi paid  Rs 27 for a book kept for seven days . If fixed charges are Rs x and per day charges are Rs y, Write the linear equation representing the above statement

5. Draw the graph of the equation 2x + 3y = 12. Shade the region bounded by the graph and the coordinate axes.

6. If units and tens digits of the number are x and y respectively, then write the linear equation representing the above statement.

COORDINATE GEOMETRY

7. Define: a) x coordinate   b) ordinate    c) quadrants

8. State the quadrant or axis in which each of the following points lie:

(i) (2, 1)

(ii) (-7, 0)

(iii) (-6, -4)

(iv) (0, -5)

INTRODUCTION TO EUCLID’S GEOMETRY

9. If a point C lies between two points A and B such that AC=BC, then prove that AC=AB. Explain by drawing the figure.

10. How would you rewrite Euclid's fifth postulate so that it would be easier to understand?
